Sif and Dillinger have expanded their long-term steel plate supply framework agreement by adding an addendum that grants Sif access to Dillinger’s lower-emission heavy-plate steel for offshore wind foundations.

The goal of this agreement is to attain full circularity for monopiles. The signing of this addendum coincides with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Sif Decom (a subsidiary of Sif) and Dillinger, aimed at jointly developing the decommissioning process for offshore wind foundations.

This MoU marks the culmination of a collaborative research project conducted by Sif, KCI, and Dillinger to design a monopile recycling factory in detail. Sif Decom will now proceed to finalise the business case. Upon the investment decision, Dillinger will be invited to actively participate in the monopile recycling factory, ensuring the supply of high-grade steel output. The monopile recycling factory is envisioned to close the circularity loop by efficiently providing recycled steel for Dillinger's low-emission steel production.
