juwi expands its business on the South American continent. In Nicaragua, in the city of Rivas on the western shore of the Lake Nicaragua, the company was selected by Alba de Nicaragua S.A. (ALBANISA), a joined venture company owned by the Nicaraguan and Venezuelan government, to supervise the construction of a 39.6MW wind farm.
The wind park consists of 22 Vestas V100 turbines (1.8MW). Main financing is coming from the Venezuelan government as a part of long term aid and cooperation funds for the Alba Group (The Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean) countries. The project has the support from all the governmental agencies. In Costa Rica, juwi is currently constructing under the EPC modality the 15.3MW Eólico Valle Central S.A. (EVCSA) turnkey project with local partners. The project site is located near the capital San José. The wind park will begin operating before end of the year 2012.
