Workshop Double on Grid Integration of Wind and Solar Power
In November this year the grid integration community will meet in Vienna, Austria, for the annual Wind and Solar Integration Workshops. About 400 participants from wind and solar generator manufacturers, universities and research institutes, system operators and utilities, and consulting companies will review and discuss recent advances in technology and exchange ideas on how to jointly tackle the challenges of the coming years.

Wind turbines have been turning in Europe’s seas since 1991, when the first were grid connected 2 kilometres off the coast of Denmark. That was 22 years ago. EWEA Annual Events routinely attract thousands of participants. EWEA 2013 will be no exception, especially as there will be a special focus this year on emerging markets, a topic of the utmost interest to all in the wind industry. Keynote speakers include the Irish and Turkish energy ministers, as well as the economy minister from the host country, Austria. Ireland will hold the Presidency of the EU in 2013, Turkey is the epitome of an ‘emerging market’ for wind energy and Austria hopes to get 71% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2020. The event will take place in Vienna, the gateway between the established wind energy markets and the new opportunities in the east.

EWEA OFFSHORE 2011 will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 29 November till 1 December. EWEA has organised the European offshore wind event since 2007. The first conference was held in Berlin and the next one followed in Stockholm, in 2009. The 2011 meeting is expected to attract over 7,500 professionals, which includes senior experts, global offshore players, and companies active in offshore wind and its related industries. Around 300 companies from both current and future offshore wind supply chains will be exhibiting their goods and services.
