In the first three months of 2016, the RWE Group’s EBITDA rose 5% compared to the previous year’s period, to € 2.3 billion, and its operating result was up 7% to € 1.7 billion. This was partly attributable to energy trading, which made an unusually high earnings contribution. Development in the Renewables Division was pleasing.
The commissioning of the new offshore wind farms Nordsee Ost and Gwynt y Môr, in particular, had a positive effect on the result. The result for the same period in the previous year still included one-off income from the divestment of the Gwynt y Môr grid infrastructure. The result for this segment is therefore virtually unchanged compared to 2015. RWE confirms its earnings outlook for the RWE Group’s business performance this year. The Group still anticipates that EBITDA will be unchanged, at between € 5.2 billion and € 5.5 billion, and that its operating result will total between € 2.8 billion and € 3.1 billion. Adjusted net income is likely to be in the range of € 0.5 billion to € 0.7 billion.
