SgurrEnergy has announced the launch of its unique wind measurement research site, Carrot Moor Test Facility, based at Whitelee wind farm near Glasgow, Scotland. The test facility features an IEC compliant, fully calibrated mast instrumentation system.

The site incorporates an 80m IEC compliant meteorological met mast equipped at multiple heights with cup and ultrasonic anemometers; temperature, pressure and relative humidity sensors; and wind vanes. A short range test pad below the mast allows testing of up to five remote wind sensing devices.  The site boasts a long range test pad, approximately 280m from the mast, which can incorporate testing of a further five remote sensing devices. The facility has the capability to undertake testing from up to 4km distances. SgurrEnergy currently use Carrot Moor to verify and calibrate their Galion Lidar wind scanning devices before being delivered to clients. The company has announced that Carrot Moor Test Facility is now open for use by the wider wind energy community. The company will also offer customers independent testing and calibration of their remote sensing equipment on their behalf as well as the opportunity to buy mast data to allow them to undertake these assessments themselves.
