Wasatch Wind (WW) has announced the receipt of a US$ 600,000 grant award from the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority (PEDA).
The grant award supports the installation and testing of the company's Space Frame Tower (SFT) together with a utility-scale wind turbine, utilising the company's Hi-Jack lifting system. Wind Tower Systems Space Frame Tower and Hi-Jack systems enable less expensive, less intrusive, and smaller footprint wind developments on sensitive sites. The company's products transport on standard flatbed trucks and eliminate the requirement for large 40-foot wide roads to support crawler crane movement between turbines. Under the PEDA grant, Wind Tower Systems expects to complete the installation of a first commercial tower in Pennsylvania with a major wind turbine manufacturer in 2008. In addition, WTS is working to expand on their existing ties to Pennsylvania firms (Lord Corp. of Erie and DFJ Element of Radnor) by partnering with additional manufacturing companies.
