Small wind turbine producer XZERES Wind Corporation has launched a new service that should allow customers to switch to wind power without upfront capital costs. Through the program the company offers to set up its turbines at customer sites meeting capital costs itself, then selling wind power to the customers through long-term power purchase agreements.
The Micro-Generation Utility program is being made available based on the XZERES 442 small wind power system, which has a 10kw nameplate generating capacity. Typical installations under the Micro-Generation Utility could vary from one turbine to 50 machines, depending on site characteristics. Through the program, XZERES will carry out site assessments, permitting, installation and grid connection activities, managing and supporting installations once completed. The company said at the end of the contract term, customers will own their wind power systems – benefiting from the remainder of the systems’ useful lives at no further cost.
