During the ReBuild Ukraine conference in Warsaw, the concept of a Commercial Risk Guarantee Fund was introduced. The concept is a mechanism aimed at attracting investments in renewable energy in Ukraine.
Developed by the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency and the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, the fund is designed to shield investors from market risks while accelerating the implementation of new renewable energy projects in Ukraine. The Commercial Risk Guarantee Fund will secure private renewable energy companies from fluctuations in the electricity market by guaranteeing a minimum price for electricity. Ukraine has set the target to double its current renewable energy capacity to 20 GW by 2030. To reach this goal, the country needs the support of international financial institutions like the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
