The French government has issued a 500MW floating wind tender for two 250MW floating wind farm projects in the Mediterranean Sea. The two projects will be located off the coasts of Narbonnaise and the Gulf of Fos, respectively.
If environmental studies rule out the Gulf of Fos location, the plans also include an alternative location for this wind farm, which could then be built off the coast of Roussillon instead. The projects also include the option for an extension by adding a capacity of 500MW to each wind farm. The tender winners will be chosen in 2023, with the two wind farms expected to be operational by 2030.
