According to Navigant Research’s Wind Turbine Order Tracker, nearly 140 projects totalling over 12GW of capacity were awarded turbine contracts across 25 countries between July and December 2015 (2H 2015).
Europe led all regions with just over 5GW of capacity in orders during the 6-month period—over half of which were from offshore wind farms. North America had just under 2.8GW of turbine deals signed in this period, with the majority of this capacity based in the USA. Just over 2GW of turbine orders were placed in the Asia Pacific region between July and December 2015. Latin America and the Middle East & Africa were fourth and fifth, respectively, in wind turbine orders announced by region. Based on reported turbine deals, Siemens led all turbine order vendors in capacity awarded, with Vestas a close second. General Electric and Gamesa were third and fourth, respectively.
