Six offshore wind power developers have won bids to develop a total of 3GW of offshore wind energy for connection to the grid in 2026–2027, the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan announced.
The six winners are Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Corio Generation, Northland Power, Synera Renewable Energy, Taiya Renewable Energy, and Skyborn Renewable Taiwan. The wind farms will be constructed in a new development zone off the coasts of Changhua and Miaoli counties. That would create 10 new wind farms, the ministry said. Each company has been awarded up to 600MW in capacity. Details about the distribution of the wind farms will be finalised by the Ministry by the end of this year. This auction is the first of three actions planned. In 2023, the ministry plans to auction another 3GW of capacity for new offshore wind farms, and another 3GW is to be auctioned in 2024.
