The Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) has appointed Juan de Dios López Leiva as Technical Director. Juan de Dios López Leiva holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), an MBA from the European Business School of Barcelona, and a University Expert degree in Coaching and Emotional Intelligence from the University Rey Juan Carlos.
He has been involved in the wind energy sector for 16 years, including roles in technology development, technological and strategic consulting. Before joining AEE, he held leadership positions in functional analysis and within the services business unit at Siemens Gamesa. He is also a professor in the Master's programme on the Use of Marine Renewable Energies at UPM and treasurer at the NGO Future4Women. As Technical Director of AEE, López will focus on projects such as developing offshore wind in Spain, repowering older wind farms, evolving grid planning approaches, advancing the design of grid access capacity allocation tenders for projects post-2028, and developing hybridisation and storage solutions.
