The non-profit Business Network for Offshore Wind has teamed up with four US states to support the development of over 10GW of new projects. The network is now under contract with New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland to assist in the development of offshore wind projects.
New York and New Jersey have goals to deliver 5.6GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. In Virginia, Dominion Energy has partnered with network member Orsted to develop a two-turbine 6MW test site which could be operational by 2021. In Maryland, the network has been working under a five-year contract to formalise the Maryland offshore wind cluster. The network has also been subcontracted to work with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to help develop national standards and guidelines for offshore wind.
