The National Offshore Research and Development Consortium (NOWRDC) has announced its Solicitation 4.0, offering a $10.6 million opportunity aimed at advancing innovation in floating offshore wind technology.
This funding aims to tackle near-term challenges in the U.S. offshore wind sector, supporting high-impact projects that address technological, environmental, and cost barriers to expedite the deployment of floating offshore wind. The opportunity is jointly funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office, the California Energy Commission, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.
The funding opportunity will focus on three key areas: innovations in ports and vessels to support the installation of floating offshore wind; advancements in transmission technology for floating offshore wind; and the development of uncrewed underwater vehicles for environmental monitoring around floating offshore wind infrastructure.
