The Clarksons SOV Concept and Design team was engaged by Aker Arctic to support the development of an ice-classed CSOV concept. Aker Arctic's design team has finalised the ARC 311 concept, a year-round SOV for seas prone to seasonal ice.
The concept can be customised for specific areas of application and facilitates investment calculations for wind farms. With ice reinforcement and an ice class suitable for the entire Baltic Sea, including the Gulf of Bothnia, the SOV is prepared for harsh winter conditions. It is designed for year-round, independent operation with minimal fuel consumption and can remain in the wind farm for up to a month before returning to shore for resupply. The new design utilises a battery-operated electric system and a hybrid system with charging capabilities at the wind farm. Additionally, the SOV is equipped with dynamic positioning and a motion-compensated gangway.
