Bachmann Monitoring has revealed the Cantilever Sensor (CLS). The Cantilever Sensor (CLS), a blade bending measurement technology, is able to measure rotor blade strain in real time.The CLS provides a wider range of values and is more durable than existing strain gauges, according to the company. The sensor facilitates optimised pitch control with early ice and fault detection to improve predictive maintenance of turbine blades both on- and offshore. The CLS delivers measurements with tolerances of +/-0.5μm.
