Inspired by the design of the owl's silent flight, Biome's FeatherEdge  turbine blade serration technology has been designed to address the challenge of trailing edge noise (TBL-TE noise), the primary cause for wind turbine noise which humans can hear in the range of 300-1500Hz.

Imparting the technique of phase interference FeatherEdge can allow for improvements in the turbine power curve through control parameter optimization.  Biome is currently planning several projects with customers in North America and Europe. Test campaigns will adhere to strict IEC standards. Results from independent wind tunnel acoustic measurements conducted by Deutsche WindGuard showed noise reductions that are promising.
