The Breman Group (The Netherlands) has introduced a high-speed, chain-driven davit crane called the Eye Catcher, designed for offshore wind turbine maintenance.
This chain crane has a standard capacity of 1 tonne, with a radius of 3.5 metres and a lifting height of up to 30 metres. A version capable of lifting up to 3 metric tonnes can be provided on request. The crane can also be equipped with a heave compensation mode, allowing it to follow the vertical movements of a sensor on the maintenance vessel.
The Eye Catcher features a remote-controlled, self-engaging crane hook that mechanically latches onto a standard lifting eye. The load can only be released when the wireless remote control is activated and the hook is unloaded. The tool's colour indicates its status: green shows that the lifting eye is present and the hook is secured, while blue indicates an open hook, allowing the Eye Catcher to be safely removed.
