Corporation introduces their barometer for Wind Power Density (WPD) calculations. Connected to a wind turbine control system, the barometer is a compact device that will measure the local absolute barometric pressure to be used in calculating the WPD available from that turbine's location.
WPD is an indication of wind energy production potential and is more useful than just wind speed since wind power production is dependent also on air density.? Wind power is directly proportional to air density, the turbine blade radius, the turbine efficiency, and wind speed cubed. Several analog output ranges, RS-232C, RS-485, SDI-12, along with terminal mode and MODBUS RTU Communication Protocols for the RS-232C and RS-485, are provided.? Easy set up enables the sensor to be operational in less than five minutes, with no calibration requirements.
