REpower Systems AG has completed the assembly of the first three REpower 6M turbines in Bremerhaven. The wind turbines, which each have a rated output of 6MW, are expected to be erected at the Westre civic wind farm on the German-Danish border the beginning of 2009.
There, they will undergo a comprehensive testing programme and checks for certification according to the DIBT classification. The new offshore wind turbine technology is based on the successful 5M range. Since the dimensions correspond exactly to those of the REpower 5M, the REpower 6M can later be used in all the projects planned for this turbine type. In future, series production will take place in the wind energy company's new assembly hall in Bremerhaven, which is designed to produce and directly ship more than 80 nacelles and hubs per year. The hall tests for the three 6M turbines were recently completed there successfully.
