OceanWings unveils new wind propulsion systems for shipsOceanWings, formerly Ayro, a provider of wind-powered ship technology, has launched a wider range of their fuel-saving wind sails, Wingsails, designed for various cargo ship types and sizes.

This follows the successful launch of the Canopée cargo ship in 2023, which uses their original Wingsail design. The new Wingsails come in two types: semi-rigid and rigid, and both deliver fuel savings in most conditions. They also feature a safety system that automatically protects the Wingsail and ship in bad weather.

To meet different ship needs, the new range includes options like a tilting mechanism for adjusting air draft and an elevator system for container ships. The wind sail system can also be lowered or reefed. The rigid Wingsails are built using similar materials and processes as wind turbine blades.
