WindLogics has announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a patent for the company's enhanced measure/ correlate/predict (MCP) methodology for wind farm locations.
These methods, which are the underlying technology behind WindLogics' Valuepoint financial analysis services, provide a significantly enhanced understanding of the long-term wind variability at wind project sites (U.S. Patent No. 7,228,235). Valuepoint customers receive information for critical financial decision support. Project deliverables include predictive values (P50, P75, P90, P95 and P99) for wind speed, energy production and capacity factors. In addition, customers receive a 40-year time series of hub-height wind characteristics for the specified location. These results are often used as input to financial performance calculations, to clarify energy production potential, and to reduce the risk of traditional methods of wind resource analysis.
