Catch the Wind Ltd. has announced that the company's Vindicator Laser Wind Sensor (LWS) has begun Phase Two of the Research Development and Demonstration (RD&D) program at the Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan).
Testing and completion of this phase is scheduled for January 2009. In July 2008, the Vindicator LWS was accepted into the WEICan RD&D program. Phase One consists of system delivery and evaluation at WEICan to determine that the system is operating properly. Phase Two includes the correlation of Vindicator LWS wind data with various standard wind industry wind speed and direction sensors and culminates with its integration into a Windmatic 65kW wind turbine directional control system. Catch the Wind successfully completed Phase One of the RD&D program in August 2008, when the first Vindicator LWS was delivered to WEICan at their North Cape, Prince Edward Island site. WEICan plans to provide a preliminary report on testing results in November 2008.
