Wisconsin Power and Light Co., a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corp. said it bought the development rights to the Cedar Ridge Wind Farm from privately held Midwest Wind Energy of Chicago for an undisclosed sum.
A spokeswoman for the Madison, Wisconsin-based company said WP&L would not disclose the estimated cost of the project until the company filed the proposal with state regulators, which will likely occur next month. Midwest Wind Energy started developing the Cedar Ridge Wind Farm in 2004. WP&L, which expects the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to rule on the company's proposal in early 2007, expects the wind farm to enter service in late 2007 or 2008.
