Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Hexicon have applied for permission to build and operate the 100MW Pentland floating offshore wind farm off Scotland's north coast.
The developers are asking Marine Scotland for permission to build up to seven turbines and floating substructures 7.5 kilometres off the coast of Dounreay, Caithness. Each floating substructure will be made up of nine moorings and nine anchors or piles. In addition, the project will include up to two offshore export cables, as well as associated scour and cable protection. Construction is expected to begin in 2024, with operations beginning by the end of 2026.
