Associated British Ports (ABP) and Eclipse Energy have announced an agreement that enables Eclipse Energy to evaluate the potential development of wind energy resources within land belonging to ABP South Wales.

The Gwynt Yr Hafan project will evaluate areas within the Ports of Cardiff, Barry, Newport, Port Talbot and Swansea which were previously identified by the Welsh Assembly Government as potential ‘brown-field' development sites in their study "The potential for wind power in urban, industrial and commercial sites of Wales". Over the next year Eclipse will be undertaking a number of environmental and technical feasibility studies as well as consulting with local stakeholders prior to putting forward detailed proposals.
