Energia, the Viridian Group’s electricity supplier, has entered into long term contracts with developers which will underpin the construction of 15 new wind farms in Ireland with a combined capacity of 165MW.
The contracts have been entered into under the Renewable Energy Feed in Tariff programme (REFIT), part of the Government’s initiative to increase electricity generated from renewable resources, launched in May this year. The 15 wind farms are due for completion between 2007 and 2009. The total estimated value of the contracts over their 15 year lives is some € 550 million.
