Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm is to be connected to the national grid with Nexans' 400 kV aluminium XLPE cables. Nexans will manufacture and supply 57 kilometres of 400 kV cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables.
The XLPE cables are part of an underground system that will connect the Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm to the Danish grid. The cables produced by Nexans will connect the substations Ishøj and Hovegård, running a length of approximately 19 kilomertes. Nexans will also supervise the installation process. The cables have an aluminium conductor and aluminium screen. The Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm will be located in the Danish exclusive economic zone, 25 kilometres east of the Island Møn in the Baltic Sea. The wind farm will have a capacity of 600MW. The grid connection must be in operation by the end of 2018. Cables will be manufactured at Nexans' plant in Charleroi, Belgium.
