Ørsted has announced that the 12MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind pilot project is now delivering power to the US grid. The project has been constructed for its partner Dominion Energy.
Orsted oversaw the installation of the projects offshore components, including turbines and foundations, on behalf of the US developer, while Dominion Energy oversaw all onshore aspects, such as the interconnection. Coastal Virginia uses two 6MW Siemens Gamesa turbines, which were installed in the summer.
