The bidding entity Waterekke Energy has won the rights to build a 1.5 GW offshore wind farm in the German North Sea in the latest offshore wind auction. Luxcara will serve as the asset manager for the project.
In addition to financial considerations, the auction placed significant emphasis on social and ecological criteria. The site, N-9.3, is located in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the German North Sea, approximately 85 km northwest of the German island of Helgoland. This project will be part of a portfolio managed by Luxcara on behalf of institutional investors.
The auction, held in August 2024, offered a total of three areas (N-9.1, N-9.2, and N-9.3) with a combined capacity of 5.5 GW. The other winner in the auction is RWE, which was awarded the N-9.1 and N-9.2 sites in the German North Sea, with a total capacity of 4 GW.
