Governor Gina Raimondo has announced that Rhode Island has selected Deepwater Wind to construct a new 400MW offshore wind farm. The Revolution Wind project was selected through a competitive offshore wind procurement process in collaboration with Massachusetts.

Governor Charlie Baker and the State of Massachusetts have announced that Vineyard Wind, a partnership between Avangrid Renewables and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), has been selected for an 800MW wind farm. The final acceptance of the bid and the award of a contract is conditional upon the successful negotiation of the contract and required regulatory approval at the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities.

Bay State Wind, a 50-50 joint venture between Ørsted and Eversource, was not selected for contract negotiations. This does not change Ørsted’s commitment to develop offshore wind in the USA. Together with Eversource, the company will continue progressing the Bay State Wind project towards the next solicitations in New England and New York.  Ørsted will also continue to develop its utility scale Ocean Wind project in New Jersey, and they remain engaged with their partner Dominion Energy in bringing offshore wind to Virginia.
