MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has signed a conditional agreement for the Seagreen offshore project in the UK for the delivery of turbines comprising 1,140 MW. Seagreen Wind Energy Limited is an offshore wind farm development wholly owned by SSE Renewables.
Seagreen was awarded exclusive development rights by The Crown Estate for the Firth of Forth Zone of the UK's Round 3 offshore wind farm development programme. Phase One within the Zone includes the development of two offshore windfarms Seagreen Alpha and Seagreen Bravo, located over 27km from the Angus coastline. In September 2019, Seagreen secured a 15-year CfD contract awarded by the UK Government for 454MW, representing 42% of the total project capacity. SSE Renewables is planning to build out the project to 1,075MW (114 turbines). The project’s materialisation will be subject to a Final Investment Decision.
