The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and the Project Management Jülich (PtJ) have appointed GL Garrad Hassan's WINDTEST Kaiser Wilhelm Koog GmbH to manage the offshore wind research platform in the Baltic Sea, FINO 2.
For the next 3 years, GL Garrad Hassan has taken over responsibility for the overall operations and maintenance of the platform. The company will also manage the research programme and associated technical data, which will include various meteorological and hydrological measurements, long-term bird migration patterns, and maritime traffic around the platform. Participants in the project include the research institute WIND-consult, the Institute for Applied Ecology (Institut für Angewandte Ökologie) and the Shipping Institute Warnemünde (Schiffahrtsinstitut Warnemünde).
