Swedish floating wind turbine developer SeaTwirl has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based offshore oil and gas operator Serica Energy.
The partnership aims to explore the feasibility of using SeaTwirl's floating wind turbines to electrify offshore oil and gas operations. The MoU focuses on identifying and assessing opportunities to decarbonise offshore production and explore other offshore electrification possibilities, including the use of renewable power and, where applicable, subsea energy storage. By collaborating and gathering data from Serica's operations, SeaTwirl will evaluate the commercial viability and suitability of its technology for offshore assets.
