Seaway Offshore Cables (SOC), in combination with Subsea 7, has been awarded its first US offshore wind project by Ørsted Wind Power North America. The company signed a cable supply and cable installation contract for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project located approximately 43 kilometres off the east coast of the USA.
SOC and Subsea 7 will be operating out of the Gulf of Mexico to perform the turnkey supply and installation of inner array grid cables for the CVOW Project. SOC will also provide associated materials and services including the supply of the submarine composite cables, cable protection systems and related accessories as well as post-installation termination, trenching and testing services. The project engineering works will commence immediately. The marine installation works are scheduled for execution in 2020. The CVOW Project includes the development of two, 6MW wind turbines on monopile foundations, which will be connected to the existing onshore grid by submarine cables.
