Cortland Company, a manufacturer of engineered synthetic ropes, heavy lift slings, electro-optical-mechanical cables, and umbilicals is working with Dutch Heavy Lift Consultancy on DONG Energy Anholt Offshore Wind Farm project to deliver custom Plasma HMPE for towing monopiles.
Construction is currently taking place between Djursland and the island of Anholt in the Kattegat, due to be completed in 2013. Monopiles are towed into place using Cortland’s 44mm diameter Plasma rope. The rope is connected to the towing beam, wrapped around the trunnion at its half waypoint, before being looped back. The automatic release system allows the tug to easily disconnect from the monopiles.
