DTU Wind and Energy Systems has launched a new strategy to keep pace with the accelerating green transition and to reinforce its position as global knowledge partner in the field. Formed in 2022 from the merger of DTU Wind and the Center for Electric Power and Energy, the organisation aims to address the energy transition more comprehensively.
The new strategy focuses on four major societal challenges: advancing the European wind industry, designing a renewable energy-powered future energy system, supporting a sustainable energy transition, and training crucial technology leaders and specialists.
For employees, the strategy will foster a unified culture, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and clarify the department's purpose. The strategy emphasises impactful research, balancing short-term industry applications with long-term breakthroughs, ensuring societal benefits.
Focusing on impact helps maintain clarity amidst the complex energy transition, ensuring significant contributions to the green transition. Impact includes testing wind turbine prototypes, developing AI and quantum computers for future energy systems, and providing research-based education to build strong competences in future technology leaders and experts.
Industry partners will see clearer capabilities and strategic cooperation opportunities, with DTU leading large projects on energy islands, offshore wind, and Power-to-X plants, and forming partnerships with leading energy companies.
