Duke Energy has announced agreements with Siemens and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) to provide wind turbines for the two phases of Duke Energy’s Los Vientos Windpower Project in Willacy County, Texas, USA.
Siemens will provide 87 2.3MW turbines for Duke Energy Renewables’ 200MW Los Vientos I Windpower Project. MHI was chosen to supply 84 2.4MW turbines for the 202MW Los Vientos II Windpower Project. Both sites expect the first delivery of turbines by early June 2012. Construction at both project sites will begin in December 2011, with commercial operation of the wind farms anticipated by late 2012.
