Econergy has acquired Escofi, a French private onshore wind platform with 740 MW of capacity. The transaction marks Econergy’s entry into the French market. Founded in 1988, Escofi develops, finances, builds and operates onshore wind projects. Its portfolio comprises 128 MW in operation, 34 MW under construction, 147 MW in advanced development and 432 MW in early and mid-stage development.
The portfolio is concentrated in the Hauts-de-France and Grand Est regions of northern France. More than 90% of Escofi’s operational and under-construction capacity has 20-year contracted revenues under France’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) regime. In July 2026, three additional projects totalling 46 MW secured CfDs at prices above €80/MWh for 20-year terms.
Escofi’s 309 MW of operational, under-construction and advanced-development projects are expected to generate annual revenues of €59–65 million and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of €47–53 million in a representative year.
By 2030, completion of the projects under construction and the 147 MW advanced-development pipeline is expected to increase Escofi’s operational capacity to approximately 300 MW, with project-level EBITDA of approximately €42–44 million. A further 432 MW in early and mid-stage development forms the longer-term pipeline. Econergy’s effective ownership across the projects is approximately 91%.
The portfolio also has potential for repowering, with one project already under way and a second having secured a CfD. Econergy also identified opportunities for further acquisitions in the French onshore wind market, as well as battery storage at existing wind sites.
Econerg acquired the protfolio for €134.3 million. Following the acquisition, Econergy’s European platform spans eight markets: France, Romania, the UK, Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain and Greece.
