Fugro Seacore have announced that they have signed a contract relating to the design, build and installation of an offshore met mast to record and monitor site conditions on the proposed Rampion Offshore Wind Farm site in the English Channel, 13 kilometres off the coast of Sussex, UK.
They will be working on this project until April 2012. The design they are working to is for a 46 metres long 2.5 metres diameter steel pile, weighing 170 tonne. They will be working in 20 metres of water, with their jack-up barge ‘Excalibur’. They are aiming to drive the pile into the seabed. A T10 reverse circulation drill will be available onboard to supplement the hammering if drilling is deemed necessary. Fugro is subcontracting the design of the met mast structure and steel fabrication to preferred experienced suppliers.
