A new site for turbine prototyping and certification in The Netherlands has been opened. These kind of test facilities are crucial for innovation in the wind turbine sector.
They are needed for certification, which is required for instance to receive permits. Manufactures will also use the test location in their own innovation programmes. The new wind turbine test site in Lelystad (The Netherlands) provides all infrastructure, wind measurements and wind turbine measurements that are required for turbine certification. The Dutch testing facility can service twelve turbines with tip heights up to 200 meters and a combined installed capacity of up to 30MW. The accredited measurement services are provided by Ecofys in collaboration with windtest grevenbroich GmbH. The coming seven years the test site if fully booked.
