Royal Boskalis saw a 5% increase in revenue for the first half of the year, reaching EUR 2.07 billion, up from EUR 1.97 billion in the same period last year. EBITDA surged by nearly 50% to EUR 553 million, compared to EUR 370 million in the first half of 2023.
When adjusted for an exceptional gain, EBITDA increased by 44% year-on-year. Net profit also rose significantly, up 65% to EUR 298 million, compared to EUR 181 million in the first half of 2023.
The Offshore Energy division reported increased revenue alongside a substantial rise in EBITDA, with all business units delivering strong results. Offshore wind projects contributed to approximately half of the division’s revenue. In the USA, crane vessels were engaged in installing monopile foundations delivered by Boskalis’ heavy transport vessels. In Europe, cable-laying vessels worked on major projects, including Hollandse Kust West Beta in the Netherlands and Borkum Riffgrund 3 & Godewind 3 in Germany.
The Marine Transport & Services business unit had a productive first half of the year, with ALP’s newly acquired oceangoing tugs, purchased in early 2024, being deployed on projects such as transporting an old FPSO to a recycling yard in Europe.
Subsea Services also experienced a busy period, handling a diverse range of projects including decommissioning work in the North Sea, a multi-year maintenance contract in Dubai, and inspection and maintenance work for several large offshore companies. The Survey business also had a successful first half, working on a variety of projects within the energy markets.
