Greece’s wind-powered electricity capacity in Greece rose more the 23 percent last year, the Hellenic Wind Energy Association annouced.
Installed capacity rose to 1,626.5MW in 2011 from 1,320.4MW in 2010. EDF SA (EDF) was the biggest producer of wind energy in Greece last year, accounting for 272.03MW or almost 17 per cent of total production, Iberdrola Renovables SA was the second-largest producer with 250.68MW and Terna Energy SA (TENERGY) was third with 241.52MW. Vestas Wind Systems A/S accounted for 49 per cent of wind turbines installed in Greece in 2011, Enercon for 22 per cent, Siemens AG for 12 per cent, Gamesa for 10 per cent and Nordex for 5 per cent.
