The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has cancelled two Request for Selection (RfS) documents for offshore wind projects in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

The first, issued on 13 September 2024, sought a developer for a 500 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected offshore wind farm (Tranche-I) planned for the Gulf of Khambhat, off the Gujarat coast.

The second, issued on 2 February 2024, concerned the allocation of seabed lease rights off Tamil Nadu for up to 4,000 MW of offshore wind capacity.

SECI confirmed both cancellations, citing minimal or no developer interest. Industry sources indicated that revised tenders remain a possibility, although no formal decisions have been announced.
