Around 600 representatives from the wind energy sector, including people from politics, associations and the media, took part in an offshore excursion on 31 August organised by Messe Husum & Congress and WAB e.V. Aboard the FRS Halunder Jet, the full-day trip travelled from Hamburg into the German North Sea, passing offshore wind farms operated by various companies. During the trip, experts from operators, grid operators and other companies provided information on wind farms, infrastructure, technologies and current developments in offshore wind energy. Participants gained insights into the projects and experienced the scale of offshore development at sea.
A live demonstration by Northern Helicopter above the offshore emergency tug NORDIC, operated by Fairplay Towage, was also included in the programme. The vessel operates on behalf of the German federal government as part of the emergency towing concept in the German North Sea. Participants observed an abseiling manoeuvre from close range, providing an impression of the safety and rescue requirements associated with offshore operations.
Alongside the expert programme, the excursion provided an opportunity for representatives from project developers, grid operators, energy suppliers, component suppliers, associations, political organisations and the media to exchange views.
Together with FRS, the organisers have announced plans to hold further expert-led offshore excursions. The excursions will continue to serve as a prelude to HUSUM WIND. A further excursion is expected in 2028 ahead of Husum Wind2029.
The next Husum Windwill take place from 14 to 17 September 2027 in Husum.
