According to figures published by the Finish Wind Power Association (FWPA), 2,430MW of new wind power capacity was built in Finland in 2022, an increase of 75 percent. 437 new wind turbines were put into operation.
The projects completed last in 2022 brought a total of over 2.9 billion euros in investments to Finland. By the end of 2022, a total of 1,393 wind turbines will have been built in Finland, with a combined power of 5,677MW. The majority of the wind turbines completed during the year 2022 have started producing electricity at the end of the year, and their production will therefore only start to be reflected in the production figures of 2023. According to the FWPA, based on published investment decisions, around 1,000MW of new wind power capacity will be completed in 2023, over 1,200MW in 2024, and around 1,000MW again in 2025. In 2025, wind power is expected to cover at least 28 percent of Finland’s electricity consumption.
