AWS Truepower (AWST) announces the release of its first Annual Wind Trends Bulletin, which shows departures in the wind energy resource from the historical norm for 2012 for every region of the world.
Such departures, or anomalies, are linked to variations in the output of wind energy projects, and can be a key indicator of the financial performance of these projects. Key findings for 2012 include:
- Winds were unusually good in some areas of the world, including southwestern China, eastern Russia, northern Brazil and Papua New Guinea.
- For northern Canada, central Russia, Southeast Asia, and East African Rift region, 2012 was a down year.
