Beam, formerly Rovco and Vaarst (now merged), has added two 18-metre autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) called Xplorers and a Quantum EV work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) to its fleet.
The Quantum EV and Xplorer vessels will enhance Beam’s capabilities in survey, operations and maintenance (O&M), and decommissioning services across all lifecycle stages of offshore wind farms.
The two Xplorer survey vessels are equipped to handle a variety of tasks. They have large open aft decks for carrying high payloads and are fitted with stabilisers to minimise unwanted movement. These autonomous workboats can deploy multiple AI models while collecting data and transmit data back to shore for processing.
The Quantum EV, an electric ROV, is lighter and more agile than conventional ROVs, making it suitable for operations in high currents and shallow waters.
