Cadeler has received its first P-class jack-up installation vessel, Wind Peak, from the Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Cosco) shipyard in Qidong, China. The vessel was officially named during a celebratory ceremony at the shipyard and is now ready to begin commercial operations.
The P-class vessel is designed to handle some of the largest wind turbine components in the offshore wind industry. It can transport and install seven complete 15 MW turbine sets or five sets of 20+ MW turbines per load.
Wind Peak features a deck space of 5,600 m², a payload capacity exceeding 17,600 tons, and a main crane that can lift over 2,500 tons at a height of 53 metres. The vessel can accommodate up to 130 crew members and installation technicians.
The sister ship to Wind Peak, named Wind Pace, is currently under construction and is scheduled for delivery in Q2 2025. Both vessels will be registered in Denmark. The P-class vessels are the result of close cooperation with Cadeler’s partners, including COSCO, GustoMSC NOV, Kongsberg, Huisman, and MAN Energy.
