eologix-ping has introduced an updated version of its wireless On-Blade sensors for ice detection on wind turbine blades. The new sensors are designed to be more durable, efficient, and compatible with a wider range of turbine models.

The sensors have been tested in cold climates and high-altitude areas with extreme weather, with over 500 sensors installed by the end of 2024. The updated system also includes software improvements, offering enhanced support for operational needs. The sensors have received certification from DNV and they can be integrated into new and existing turbines, with no additional turbine data required. The system allows for automatic turbine restart after ice-free conditions are detected.
